IV INTERNATIONAL ECOPERFORMANCE FILM FESTIVAL
The International Ecoperformance Film Festival (IEFF) is an artistic response to the eco-political challenges of the 21st century.
At the intersection of cinema, performing arts, and ecology, the festival promotes films of established and emerging interdisciplinary artists investigating the tensions between environment, body, and ancestry in natural, urban, and virtual landscapes. The festival incentivizes films striving for less anthropocentric forms of dramaturgy and cinematography.
Conceived by the Brazilian choreographer Maura Baiocchi and inaugurated in 2021, the festival achieved global resonance adopting both an online and in-person format.
The upcoming festival edition received 770 submissions from 81 countries on 6 continents. Among this impressive array of proposals, the curator team selected 60 works from 34 countries [1]. Beyond the already existing genre of ecopoet[h]ics, the new festival edition will exhibit eco-documentaries and eco-animations.
In pursuit of a flourishing intercontinental presence, the 4th International Ecoperformance Film Festival will occur from May 30 to June 30, 2024, in cinemas, universities, theaters, and culture centers of Brazil, Australia, the US, Romania, Argentina, and Germany.
In addition to the 4th IEFF's film program, the Rhode Island Edition, a festival offshoot organized in cooperation with the Brown Arts Institute, will feature Rhode Island and Massachusetts films curated especially for the Brown Arts Ecoperformance - IGNITE Selection.
In 2024, the 4th International Ecoperformance Film Festival invites you again to an intercontinental diversity expedition of encounters with geographies, ethnicities, cultures, languages, bodies, genders and ages.
Enjoy the festival!
